Brodner's Cartoon du Jour: What Must They Be Thinking?
May 23, 2008
Two weeks from tomorrow, June 7, is the opening of "Raw Nerve" at the Norman Rockwell Museum in beautiful Stockbridge, MA. God knows what America's best-loved illustrator would say about this alien invasion. Director Laurie Norton Moffatt and curators Stephanie Plunkett and Chuck Sable may have to answer for a lot in the next life, but have been a perfect delight to work with in this one. Drawgers and non-Drawgers extremely welcome all summer (drop me an e- if you'll be in the area that night).

Its like the Americanized version of 1984.
I'd hate to be a character in Brodner's nightmares.
The GENERAL even forced a Soldier he KNEW PERSONALLY, who had SAVED HIS LIFE on the Battlefield during WWI, to leave. Didn't even give a damn about the Soldier who saved his well decorated ASS!
My opinion of EISENHOWER, to say the least, plummeted when I saw this Documentary; my opinion of HOOVER as a total "ass" was corrobated; my opinion of F.D.R. & Eleanor Roosevelt only increased in my admiration.
It took F.D.R. to finally get Congress to pass the "BONUS" money the WWI "Bonus Army" Veterans had protested about so bravely.
Doesn't G.W.BUSH, DICK CHENEY, JOHN McCAIN & the Iraq War's architects, remind you of HOOVER's treatment of THAT generation's VETERANS when they returned home?
Who in Bush's military today, reminds you of those who followed Hoover's orders to remove the Bonus Army protestors?
Not SHINSEKI, that's for sure. At least there are some true Patriots among our Military leaders. But they have all been "retired", leaving only syncophants & toadies.
The honor of this show is unbelievable. I picked Ike's portrait because I liked the contrast with my crazy figures. I don't completely dislike Ike. Yes, he was in charge, along with MacArthur, in attacking the bonus marchers. He also warned about the Military Industrial Complex, which is the key concept behind our current problems. Hope you all can make it up there this summer.
